Privacy policy

Last updated 19 August 2026 · Applies to the Droplift iOS app and to dropliftapp.com

The short version. Your workouts, your history and your personal bests are stored on your phone, not on our servers. There is no account to create. We don’t sell anything about you, we don’t run advertising, and we don’t share your data with advertising networks or data brokers.

1. Who we are

Droplift is operated by Droplift Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17424418, registered office 72 Blenheim Road, Barnsley S70 6AR), which is the data controller for the purposes of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

For anything about this policy or about your data, write to privacy@dropliftapp.com.

2. What we collect, and why

Your training data — stays on your phone

Your routines, sessions, sets, reps, weights, schedule, personal bests and preferences are written to storage on your own device. They are not uploaded to us. We cannot read them, and if you delete the app they go with it.

App usage and diagnostics

We collect aggregate, non-identifying information about how the app is used — for example that a session was started, that the READY button was tapped, or that playback failed — together with basic technical information such as device model, OS version and app version. We use it for one thing: working out whether the product does what it claims and finding the bugs when it doesn’t. It is never used to build an advertising profile, and it is never sold or shared for anyone else’s marketing.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — specifically, understanding whether our own software works. You can object at any time by writing to us.

When you contact us

If you email us or use the form on the support page, we hold your email address and whatever you tell us for as long as it takes to resolve the issue, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case it comes back. Lawful basis: legitimate interests in answering our own users. The form sends the message straight to our own mailbox through our hosting provider — there is no third-party form service in between, and nobody else receives a copy.

If you join the waitlist

We hold the email address you give us so we can tell you when Droplift is available. Lawful basis: consent, which you gave by submitting the form and can withdraw at any time by replying to any message or writing to us. We delete waitlist addresses once they’ve served their purpose or when you ask, whichever is first.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are bought and billed through Apple. Your card details go to Apple and never to us — we receive only a signal that a subscription is active, and anonymised sales reports Apple produces. Apple’s handling of that transaction is covered by Apple’s own privacy policy.

The website

dropliftapp.com sets no cookies, runs no advertising trackers and embeds nothing from a social network. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and for keeping the site up.

3. What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell personal data. Not to anyone, for any price.
  • We don’t run ads in the app or let ad networks track you.
  • We don’t ask for your contacts, your photos, your location or your health records. The app doesn’t request those permissions.
  • We don’t read, listen to or record anything through your microphone. Droplift plays audio; it doesn’t capture it.
  • We don’t upload your training history anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to go.

4. Who else sees anything

Only the service providers we need to run the app, each acting on our instructions and only for that purpose: our hosting provider, which also carries the website's forms and email, our analytics provider, and Apple for app distribution and billing. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

Some of these providers operate outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred abroad, it is protected by an adequacy decision or by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

5. If you’re a music producer

If you submit music or sign a licence with us, we hold your name, contact details, the tracks you sent, and the records needed to account to you and pay you — including play statistics for your tracks. Lawful basis: performance of a contract, and our legal obligation to keep financial records. Tax law requires us to keep those records for six years after the end of the accounting period they relate to.

6. How long we keep things

What How long
Training data on your device Until you delete it or delete the app
Usage and diagnostic events Up to 14 months, then deleted or fully aggregated
Support conversations Up to 24 months after the issue is closed
Waitlist email addresses Until launch, or until you ask us to remove you
Artist contracts and payment records 6 years, as tax law requires

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or hand it over in a portable format. You can object to processing we do on the basis of legitimate interests, and you can withdraw consent at any time where consent is what we relied on.

Write to privacy@dropliftapp.com. We’ll respond within one month. There’s no charge.

If you think we’ve handled your data badly, please tell us first — but you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk regardless of whether you do.

8. Children

Droplift is a barbell-training app and is not directed at children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, tell us and we’ll delete it.

9. Security

Traffic to and from the app and this website is encrypted in transit. Access to the small amount of data we do hold is limited to the people who need it — currently one person. No system is perfectly secure, and we’d rather say that plainly than imply otherwise.

10. Changes to this policy

When the app changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we’ll say so in the app or by email rather than quietly editing this page.

11. Contact

privacy@dropliftapp.com for anything on this page. support@dropliftapp.com for everything else.
